AN EASTER SERIES ON THE RESURRECTION

Posted by Dr. Bill Blanchard on

For the four Sundays leading up to and including Easter, we are going to delve into the longest chapter in the entire Bible dealing with the resurrection of Jesus Christ, I Corinthians 15.  The study path that we will be taking is as follows:

  • March 27, Vv. 1-11, “Evidence for the Bodily Resurrection of Jesus Christ”
  • April 3, Vv. 12-34, “If Christ Be Not Raised…Then What?”
  • April 10, Palm Sunday, Vv. 35-49, “The Nature of our Resurrectional Bodies”
  • April 17, Easter Sunday morning, Vv. 35-58, “You Never Know When Easter Can Happen to You!”

This 15th chapter of I Corinthians constitutes the most extensive treatment of the resurrection in all of Scripture!  And by the way, the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the grave is the citadel of the Christian faith, the pivot upon which all of Christianity turns.  That is, without the resurrection, Christianity would simply become wishful thinking, taking its place alongside other human philosophies and religious speculation.  Without the resurrection of Jesus Christ, salvation would only be a state of mind with no correspondence to reality whatsoever.  On the other hand, if it can be shown that Jesus of Nazareth was raised from the dead, as the Scriptures claim, then the Christian faith rests upon an impregnable foundation.

So, please join me with enthusiasm as we delve into this exciting series of messages in the longest passage in the entire New Testament dealing with the resurrection!

Devotedly your pastor,

Bill Blanchard
