Vision & Belief Statements

Vision

Our vision is to develop people into fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.

Purpose

Our purposes are to:

  • Adore God (Worship)
  • Bring people to Jesus Christ (Evangelism & Missions)
  • Call believers to membership (Fellowship)
  • Develop members in spiritual maturity (Discipleship)
  • Equip Christians for service (Ministry)

We want to accomplish these purposes through prayer as we seek to fulfill our Vision by focusing upon the five eternal purposes of the church whereby we proclaim, through word and deed, the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

WORSHIP / MAGNIFICATION
Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church.  He is to have our adoration and devotion and be preeminent in all things.

EVANGELISM / MISSIONS
As Jesus Christ is exalted in worship, His life is extended through His people (personally and corporately) in missionary activity to reach the lost of this world as His mission becomes our mission. Both evangelism and missions are concerned with communicating the good News of Jesus Christ to unbelievers of all cultures.

FELLOWSHIP / MEMBERSHIP
In an effort to “preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace” (Ephesians 4:3), God’s people will nourish biblically based relationships to create harmony within His Family.

DISCIPLESHIP / MATURITY
God’s people must be equipped to live the Christ-life and then extend His life to others in such a manner that spiritual reproduction occurs for each succeeding generation.

MINISTRY / SERVICE
As God’s people grow in spiritual maturity, they are encouraged to model a ministry lifestyle which will be determined primarily by their God-given SHAPE (Spiritual giftedness, Heart, Abilities, Personality, and Experiences).

5 Purposes of Northway

We are to be Christian instruments of God who care for the needs of the whole person by stressing a balanced perspective among each of these purposes concurrently. As such, our mission is to magnify God (Worship), while bringing people to the Lord Jesus Christ (Evangelism/Missions) and membership into His Family (Fellowship), growing them in spiritual maturity (Discipleship), and equipping them for service (Ministry).

What We Believe

We believe that the sixty-six books of the Bible were written by men divinely inspired by God, are completely trustworthy, and are the basis for our beliefs. Northway Community Church accepts “The Baptist Faith and Message” (2000 edition) as an affirmation of our basic Christian beliefs and as a general statement of our faith and practice.
