ATTEMPTING TO RE-DEFINE MARRIAGE
It will always be easy for me to remember when our Supreme Court handed down its ruling on “Gay Marriage,” because it occurred on June 26, 2015, our wedding anniversary. Several have asked me how this attempt to re-define the legal definition of marriage in our country will affect our lives and ministries at Northway Community Church.
Actually, this horrible re-definition by the Supreme Court will not alter our view of God’s definition of marriage in the least, because our ultimate authority on this matter is to be found in the teachings of the Word of God. And we will not allow the institutions of any civil government to alter the biblical description of marriage which is defined as the uniting of a man and a woman in covenant relationship for a lifetime.
Therefore, Northway Community Church will not ever compromise the authority of the Word of God by recognizing same-sex marriages or participating in same-sex marriage ceremonies. While our love for every man or woman, whether in this struggle or another, remains intact, our calling is to show the advocates of “gay marriage” that, without any question whatsoever, there is a much better way!
In the meantime, as we pray diligently for our nation’s leaders and our country, please join me in working within our respective spheres of influence to vote out of office any elected official who endorses a definition of marriage that runs counter to “nature and our nature’s God.”
