MIGRATING GEESE

Posted by Dr. Bill Blanchard on

Have you ever been amazed at the intricacies of nature that were established by our Creator?  Time and time again, I have been, and many of these intricacies even draw very close parallels to the inter-actions among healthy Christians within the Body of Christ, the Church!  Let me give you an example that relates to the way migrating geese work together.

First, as each goose flaps its wings in a “V” formation of flight, it creates an uplift for the following birds and increases the flying range of the flock by 71% over one bird flying alone!  And similarly, when Christians make a strong effort to work together, they are much more successful in achieving their goals, and the sense of community which we share will go a long way in making our journey more pleasant and rewarding.

Second, whenever a goose falls out of formation, it suddenly feels the drag and resistance of trying to fly alone and quickly gets back into formation to take advantage of the lifting power of the bird immediately in front.  And similarly, when Christians choose to work together, we can achieve much greater results with less expenditure of energy.

Third, the geese in formation honk from behind to encourage those up front to keep up their speed.  And similarly, we need to make sure that we are encouragers to each other.  If we pray for one another and share words of encouragement, we can be of great assistance to our fellow believers.

May be continue to “fly in unison” with each other as we serve our Lord together at Northway Community Church!

Devotedly your pastor,

Bill Blanchard
