OUR PRAYER FOR THE NEW YEAR

Posted by Dr. Bill Blanchard on

As we begin the year 2018 together, my prayer is that we will all be challenged in the faith demonstrated by some of our great biblical heroes from the past.  May many of their noble characteristics reveal to each of us a worthy challenge in the coming new year.  As they before us, let us resolve like:

  • Enoch, to walk in daily fellowship with the Lord
  • Abraham, to trust implicitly in God
  • Moses, to choose to suffer, rather than enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season
  • Aaron and Hur, to hold up the arms of our spiritual leaders
  • Caleb and Joshua, to refuse to be discouraged because of superior numbers
  • Gideon, to advance even though our friends may be few
  • Joseph, to turn our backs to all destructive advances
  • Isaiah, to consecrate ourselves to do God’s work
  • Jehoshaphat, to prepare our hearts to seek God
  • Daniel, to commune with God regularly in prayer
  • Andrew, to strive to lead our brothers and sisters to a closer walk with Christ
  • John, to lean upon the bosom of Jesus
  • Stephen, to manifest a forgiving spirit to those who seek to hurt us
  • Paul, to forget those things which are behind and press forward
  • Timothy, to study God’s Word
  • Christ Himself, to be obedient even unto death

May we, in the year 2018, be a part of the most Christ-centered church we have ever known!  In fact, will you pray that the Lord will so make a name for Himself at NCC that no one can intelligently doubt the love, power, and presence of God after having worshiped here?

Devotedly your pastor,

Bill Blanchard
