From Pastor Bill

Fathers become famous for all kinds of things.  Some kids can say that their dad hit a home run in the World Series.  Others can boast that their father helps to pass laws that make this country a better place to live.  Young people who have fathers who are policemen and firemen love to tell exciting stories of how their dad works to save lives. 

All of these things are commendable, of course, but how would you feel if your child said, “My father is more like Jesus than any man I have ever known”?  In my estimation, that would be the highest compliment and greatest honor paid to any man.  Take every tribute and accolade that a man could acquire in a lifetime, add them all up, and they would pale in comparison alongside such a declaration from one’s own child. 

Men, let’s make a renewed commitment to be one of the first persons whom our children think about when they want to visualize Jesus.  And as we all approach Father’s Day, join me in honoring our earthly fathers, however imperfect we may be, by worshiping our Heavenly Father.
