 THE SIGNIFICANCE OF UNREACHED GOALS

Posted by Dr. Bill Blanchard on

When you set a goal that you were not able to achieve, what is one of the first things that comes to mind?  Probably failure, right?  We set a goal to achieve, it was not realized, and so it all seems like a complete loss, right?  But that may not be true!

For example, let’s suppose that you set a goal to lose 20 pounds before this summer’s beach trip, you diet consistently, you begin to exercise more, and by the time of the trip you have only lost 14 pounds.  Failure?  No.  You didn’t reach your goal, but you lost 14 pounds!  And if you had not set the goal of 20, you might not have achieved any weight loss at all!

This is true in almost every area of life!  So, don’t beat yourself up and feel awkward about failing to reach all of your goals.  Why?  Because we are not to focus so much on the goals we don’t hit, but rather on what we achieved under God because we tried!  So, don’t let the fear of failure determine the steps you take, because to try and fail at whatever goal God may place on your heart and mind is almost always going to leave you in a better position than having never tried at all!

Devotedly your pastor,

Bill Blanchard
