WAYS TO START A SPIRITUAL CONVERSATION

Posted by Dr. Bill Blanchard on

As we prepare to begin our series of messages from the book of Acts on August 5th, let me challenge each of us about various ways we can start a spiritual conversation with others.  One of the best ways to be on mission for the Lord is to start each day in prayer and meditation in God’s Word.  This also helps us stay focused on the goal to help lead people to experience a new life in Christ.  As you spend time in prayer, ask the Lord to guide your steps and conversations throughout the day so that you will not miss any of the opportunities that He provides.

EAT—Without adding anything new to your schedule, you can spend time with a neighbor or co-worker over a meal, a powerful and practical expression of kindness and community.

SHARE YOUR PASSION—What do you enjoy doing?  Whatever it is, find a friend from school/work or a neighbor, and do it with them. Be intentional about your time together and have fun at the same time.

WALK—Not much of a runner? Neither am I.  Then be a regular at walking around your neighborhood. This enables you to engage with others. You can stop and talk to people checking their mail or working in the yard.  And as you walk around your neighborhood, pray for people, homes, businesses, and community groups.

BE A REGULAR—We all have our favorite spots to eat or hang out.  Make it a goal to adopt a local coffee shop, restaurant, or park.  If you regularly visit and are a friendly person, you will quickly become known as a “regular.”  By doing this, you will get to know others and will naturally have opportunities to share what God is doing in your life and invite them to Northway Community Church.

Imagine if everyone at Northway did these things intentionally all throughout the week! What a difference it would make in the life of our church and for all of eternity!

Devotedly your pastor,

Bill Blanchard
